Flam Crossover Sprints: The following example (based from alternating flams) is a powerful multi-purpose exercise for developing upper body agility, fluidity, endurance and accuracy. In PT. 2 I add in the bass drum where I’m working on alternate single strokes between the hands and feet. I’ve used this exercise while playing multi-pedal foot ostinatos to develop simultaneously coordination as well as in live drum solos and demonstrations for visual flair.
